Angst & Danny van Looy - De Weg Naar De Hel (GBC 08, 19??), Madam Desmet - Molensteen (GBC 09, 19??)

The man behind Angst is Erik Vloeberghs, who ran the Gezonde Boerse Copulaties (Healthy Boorish Copulations) label, and whose main band was Angst. He also was part of Kwajongens In Bloei, The Parts (with the duo Club Moral) and also a writer. His stenciled and xeroxed books are great, nonsensical and wise. Pick your choose. Much of his stuff is available for download from here but some the labels releases aren't, such as 'De Weg Naar De Hel' (the road to hell), which he recorded with the otherwise for me unknown Danny van Looy. Sound collages, taped family conversations, and instrumental parts. Nice one. On the same label also a shorter release by one Madam Desmet. I have no idea who she is, but on the Club Moral it is said of this tape "literary ramblings of a local visionary", so included as a joke here. All of the Angst and Kwajongens tapes are highly recommended.

Thanks for this wonderful Angst tape... I was wondering if you can upload Angst's "Muziek voor Zelfmoorden" tape 2... it was available at Club Moral Stocklist, but it was deleted!

Thanks as always!!

I think Danny van Looy also recorded with Club Moral (or at Club Moral)... as many times as I have read the stocklist page I should probably know that for sure... but none the less..

not that many actually. he appears on 'wij zijn belgie' and is mentioned a couple of times, in vitro exhibition, but no other music.

I was good friends with both of them in the 80ties. I don't think they are very active anymore, maybe Erik still publiches some of his cut-up poems but Danny disappeared without a trace. They were both heavlly influenced by William Burroughs and Erik always had a good sense of people on the outside, maybe because he was a bit on the outside himself. So Mme DeSmet was an old visionary woman who told fortune or healed people. He thought her ramblings resembled Burroughs' cut-up texts, that's why he released the tape. Later on he got interested -maybe because of the same reasons- in this Revisionist (in the sense of; denying the holocaust) guy -peter something- and a lot of people didn't get that joke (?) very well.

Danny Van Looy never recorded with Club Moral. He was a writer and published one or maybe two booklets, and some more writings in Vloeberghs' publications and also Force Mental. He helped out at Club Moral with exhibitions and concerts, and also did quite some translations for Force Mental. Later on he worked with the Belgian Mail. He is married and has a kid.
